Virginians advocated for American Promise's "For Our Freedom" Amendment at last week's National Citizens Leadership Conference. This amendment to our U.S. Constitution would allow Congress and the states to regain their rights to regulate election spending.
We had meetings in the offices of the following members of the Virginia Congressional Delegation: Senators Kaine and Warner, Representatives Beyer, Connolly, Good, Cline, Spanberger, and Wexton.
Virginians at the Conference were proud to be represented by Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell, a 12th-generation Virginian. He highlighted the critical role of this U.S. Constitutional amendment to getting money out of politics.
The Senator has launched a sign-on letter in the Virginia Senate which requests our Virginia Congressional Delegation to start the process of amending the United States Constitution to allow the regulation and control of the power of foreign and/or unverified and untraceable money to manipulate policy in our federal, state, and local campaigns and elections.
